CAS 2, day 1

Hi everyone!

This week I joined Clean and Simple Card Making 2, the latest class offered by Online Card Classes. I just love these, they offer wonderful videos, useful tips and lots of inspiration.

Last Monday was the first day of the class, and a card designed by Kristina featured a masked background. I don't have any masks, but I immediately was inspired and thought of creating sort of a sunburst background. I simply cut strokes of paper and created my own mask, then sprayed it with Glimmer Mist.

I made a couple of cards using the same mask, but gave them a different theme. Today I'm sharing the birthday card. The picture isn't the best unfortunately, and I can't retake the picture in better light since I already gave the card away! :-)

On this card I went for monochromatic, because I used it as a masculine birthday card. The Glimmer Mist is just one shade, but because I repositioned the mask and sprayed a few different layers, it has a nice gradient effect.

Winter bunny Christmas

Hi everyone,

Today I have a Christmas card to share, which I'm entering in this week's Simon Says Challenge "Anything Goes".

It took me a bit to puzzle the elements together. I started out by choosing the paper for the background, but it didn't look right with the reindeer image (Critters in the Snow set) I had coloured up to go with it. So I went with the bunny instead. It turned out pretty cute I think :-) Now I just have to come up with a different design for those reindeer!

Thinking of You set of cards #2

Hello all,

Like yesterday I have a set of cards to share, not just with a similar design but also with a similar story. I made these for a couple, they also moved to the US and will be staying there for a few years.

Since I made all of these card in one crafting session, I based each one on Retro sketch #4 which I really liked to work with. I think it's a great lay-out to frame a smaller stamped image. I'm entering these cards into Simon Says Challenge themed 'Thinking of You'.

For the first card I used Lawn Fawn's 'Winter Owl' stamp. I stamped the image on kraft cardstock and coloured it with Copics. The colours turn out a lot darker on the kraft cardstock, but since the patterned paper also uses warm, muted colours, I thought it makes a nice match.

The second card features the retro phone from the set 'Just my Type'. I coloured the image directly on the kraft cardstock, but the mint green accent is paperpieced.

Thinking of You set of cards

Hi all!

Today I wanted to share a set of cards I made for a friend who moved to the US earlier this year and will stay there for about 2 years. Leaving his wife, family and friends behind in Europe. I'm sure that must be incredibly hard for all of them. I know how a personal note in the mail can really brighten someone's day, so I thought this set would make a nice gift.

I used Retro sketch #4 as a starting point, and since I liked it so much I decided to use it for all of the cards. It also adds to making it look like a matching set, even though the colours on each one are different.

I'm entering these cards into the Simon Says Challenge 'Thinking of You' theme. Here's card number 1:

Winter Bunny

Hi all!

Today I have another Christmas card to show you, featuring Lawn Fawn stamps! I used another old Retro Sketch as a starting point:

Here's my take on the sketch. It's another super shimmery card since the base layer is sprayed with Glimmer Mist, and so are the snowflakes, the label, and the bunny.

Now I do wish I would've cut the base panel smaller, but once it was glued down it was too late to make any changes lol. I usually fiddle around with all the elements before actually gluing something, but for some reason I didn't in this case. Either way, I think it turned out cute, the image is super cute by itself to start with!

First Christmas card

Hello fellow crafters!

It's been a long time since I wrote on my blog. Unfortunately I have been dealing with health issues, and I have barely touched my crafty supplies over the past year. Which is also why I quit working on Project 2012; my mission to create a card with each TGF image I own. For now, I'm just going to make cards for the fun of it, and being creative! :-)

So I actually made my first Christmas card for 2012. I used an old Retro sketch as my starting point.

March Product Spotlight

 

Hi everyone!

It's the last day of the month and time for another Product Spotlight post!

The Greeting Farm

These are two of the new releases: Sitting Lovely and Sitting Casual. The characters are cute as always and I do like the concept, but personally I would've gone with a seperate set of characters and a set of stuff to sit on (like a set with a bench and/or couch, a fence, a brick wall..) to create more mix & match options.

Bo Bunny

Bo Bunny added six new lines to their collection! Last month I put the paperpads Alora and Serenity on the Product Spotlight, which are my absolute favourite of the new releases. But I also LOVE this one named On the Go. I love the bright colours and the patterns, perfect for guy cards!

Sparkle Creations

I totally love this stamp! Isn't that the cutest couple ever? They were just released and are available at the Sparkle Creations webshop.

Vive la Verve Sketch Feb #1

Hi everyone!

Here's the third and final card I made for the set of relaxed, all occassion cards :-) This one features the other image of the Me Time Anya set. I used one of the Vive la Verve sketches which are posted on their Splitcoast Stampers forums.

Project 2012 stats: card 7/71, using image #31 on the list. I'm actually getting close to finishing the first 10 cards, yay! :-)

February Product Spotlight

Hi everyone!

Just because I can't buy any new stamps or paper pads doesn't mean I can't drool over the new goodies right? :-) It's going to be quite a while until I finish my Project 2012, so meanwhile I'm going to put up a monthly post showcasing the goodies I'm putting on my wishlist :-)

Lawn Fawn:

You've Got Mail - I'm totally in love with this set :-) I was one of the people who suggested a mail related set in the product request thread in Lawn Fawn's Flickr group, so it's fantastic to see that they made it happen! :-)

 

Claire's ABC is also on my wishlist, as is Stay Tuned!

It was a big surprise to see Lawn Fawn expand their product line with papers, stickers and twine. The papers look fabulous, love all the bright colours!

Hero Arts is also showing off some postal themed sets from their "Art of the Card" line of products. Absolutely love these stamps! Some of them can be combined with the Hero Arts Frame Cuts.

TGF Retro & Verve sketch

Hi everyone!

Today I finished this card for TGF's Retro challenge themed "Dimension". I used one of the Vive la Verve February sketches which are posted on their Splitcoast Stampers forums.

I used foam dots to pop up the image, and for extra dimension I created the bubbles with a Perlen Pen. As you can see, this card matches the one I made last featuring Yoga Anya. I really like the combination of the pattern papers with the lime green cardstock and how it looks so fresh and calming! So I decided to make a set of three cards, all in a 'relaxed' style :-) I think these make great all occassion cards!

Project 2012 stats: card 6/71, using image #30 on the list.
